What is the cost of non-adherence to medications?
From our conversations with seniors, the preference for aging in place is clear. While this choice has significant emotional and social benefits, it also carries heightened risks—particularly for seniors who rely on medications.
Our co-founder, Kenneth, brings firsthand insight to this challenge, having spent four years as a caregiver in both home care and long-term care settings. Kenneth witnessed numerous instances where medication non-adherence led to a rapid decline in independence, forcing seniors into long-term assisted living. This often meant losing the ability to remain in the communities they had called home for most of their lives. These experiences solidified our mission: to help seniors age in place, safely and with dignity.
Medication non-adherence is a critical concern among seniors, often exacerbated by missed visits from home care caregivers. In the U.S. alone, over 3 million seniors transitioned to long-term care in 2018 due to medication non-adherence. This trend underscores the urgent need for innovative solutions that allow seniors to age safely and longer at home.
