Families/caregivers of older adults with chronic conditions often lack the tools and real-time visibility needed to confidently manage complex pills regimens, especially when providing support remotely. This results in ongoing stress, coordination challenges, and uncertainty about whether pills are accessed correctly. Without reliable visibility, caregivers are left to manage risk blindly — increasing the likelihood of dosing errors, while living with constant stress about whether the person they support is safe.
The solution is Pillable, an innovative hardware and software technology that tracks pill 💊 blister pack usage and interprets event using human-centric and AI-enabled features for families/caregivers and older adults — no pill scheduling or pill dispenser filling; no need for seniors’ to be tech savvy. Simply, eyes on the ground without visits.
What is the Cost of Intrusive Pill Blister Pack Checks?
Self-reporting, frequent phone calls, and in-person checks are the common intrusive ways to check on pill blister pack events. Our solution brings peace of mind to families in a non-intrusive way.
Our co-founder, Kenneth, has firsthand experience with these challenges. With four years of experience as a caregiver in both home care and long-term care settings, he observed a recurring challenge among family caregivers that needed to live far from their aging parents: a lack of confidence that pills would be taken correctly. As a result, many families felt compelled to relocate their loved ones into long-term care homes, relying on on-site caregivers for oversight. Unfortunately, this increased the financial burden and often meant seniors had to leave the communities they had called home for decades.
Kenneth’s experiences inspired our mission: to help families and caregivers of seniors with chronic conditions — especially when providing support from a distance — with a technology for real-time visibility on pill accessing from blister packs.
